Dead or Alive Xtreme 2

Dead or Alive: Xtreme 2 is a sequel to Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball developed by Team Ninja.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 once again lets you play around with the characters from Tecmo's fighting series, including volleyball, jet skiing, waterslides, and other watersports such as tug of war on inner tubes.

Development

  • The game is due by fall 2006, and will run on a heavily modified engine other than that of Dead or Alive 4, allowing for new inclusions such as self-shadowing.
  • There will be a cross-connection between DOAX2 and Dead or Alive 4, with saves from one game having a substantial impact on the other.
  • The story takes place on New Zack Island, with the opening cinema showing how the resort came into Zack's possession and the lie he uses to deceive the girls once again.
  • The volleyball mechanics will be enhanced for better control, with an emphasis on spiking and blocking to improve strategies and techniques. This was introduced as the previous game was thought to be "too easy" and relied quite heavily on feints, making it less challenging and fun.
  • According to the press release from TECMO and the trailer shown at E3, the game will include PWC (Personal Water-Craft) races, waterslides, and more pool games including tug-o-war, butt wrestling, beach flag, and the return of the hopping game. In all seven different mini-games are present, discounting the casino portions of the game.
  • Creator Tomonobu Itagaki is against ever adding activities like trampoline games and wet t-shirt contests to the series, as he feels they would come off as vulgar and "show the women in a negative light".
  • Each breast has its own physics. This allows each breast to behave differently.
  • The game will be available over Xbox Live, with both the volleyball (one-on-one) and jet ski areas announced viable for online play.
  • As in the original game, the beginning and ending to DOAX2 will feature a pre-rendered clip.
  • Players will be able to use a Cameraman Mode. With this feature, players can use the camera and rotate it 360 degrees, allowing for easier control to photograph their favorite scenes, girls or poses. Pictures will not be able to be officially traded or shared over Xbox Live.
  • The game will feature cloth simulation techniques.
  • In an exclusive interview with GameTrailers.com, Itagaki confirmed that the E3 trailer of DOAX2 was entirely done in real-time.
