Just Cause is a videogame, planned to be released on September 26, 2006 for Microsoft Windows, and the Xbox, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2 videogame consoles. It is being developed by Avalanche Studios and will be published by Eidos Interactive. The game takes the form of a third-person "sandbox" type.
Though unreleased, Eidos is touting the game to be huge. The game area is reported to be over 250000 acres in size, with more than 210 missions to complete.
Just Cause is set on a fictional South American tropical island called "San Esperito", where the player works as CIA black ops agent Rico Rodriguez in a guerrilla war to overthrow San Esperito's dictator, who may be in possesion of weapons of mass |

destruction.[1] The game draws its premise (and name) from the real-life United States invasion of Panama, code-named "Operation Just Cause", which involved United States military action to overthrow military leader Manuel Noriega.
Rodriguez has been described by developers as being "the child of one thousand comic books and action movies. He is James Bond, Mad Max, El Mariachi, Wolverine, Punisher, Rambo, Tony Montana, Jack Bauer, Han Solo and Vincent Vega all rolled into one. With a touch of Enrique Iglesias to top it all off!".[2]
The game world of Just Cause is entirely free-roam. This sandbox-type of game allows for complete freedom of choice as far as transportation, armament, and movement is concerned. Despite basic similarity to other games in the genre, Just Cause adds the unique ability to perform stunts using a number of gadgets such as grappling hooks, paragliders, and parachutes. This equipment allows the player to leap from car to car or grapple onto a moving vehicle and glide behind it.
