Rumble Roses XX

Rumble Roses XX (pronounced Rumble Roses Double X) is a female fighting video game that was developed by YUKE's Future Media Creators and Konami for the Xbox 360. The game was released by Konami in North America on March 28, 2006 and in Japan on March 30. While it is part of the Rumble Roses series, the game is not a sequel to the 2004 PlayStation 2 title Rumble Roses.

Characters

The game features a "face/heel" system, the "face" characters being "good girls" and the "heel" characters being "bad girls." Each character has both a "face" and a "heel" version.

The game re-casts all the wrestlers from the original Rumble Roses, although some of the names have changed since then (the highlighted name is the default form for that character):

  • Aigle / Great Khan
  • Aisha / Sista A
  • Anesthesia / Dr. Anesthesia
  • Becky / Candy Cane
  • Dixie Clemets / Sgt. Clemets
  • Yasha / Benikage
  • Lady X / Lady X Subsistence
  • Makoto Aihara / The Black Belt Demon
  • Miss Spencer / Mistress
  • Noble Rose / Evil Rose
  • Reiko Hinomoto / Rowdy Reiko

In addition to the two opposing versions of each character, a "superstar" version is also available, featuring different attributes and moves.

Gameplay

With the exception of a simple street fighting mode, the bulk of the gameplay focuses on matches which take place in various locales. Matches can be between individual female fighters, between tag teams of two fighters each, or between a fighter and a team (a more difficult "handicap match").

Matches are won either through pinning an opponent until the count of three (a "pinfall"), or through forcing the opponent to "tap out" in pain during a submission move. Players can break free of these through rapid button presses, although as wrestlers suffer more damage (both overall and to specific body parts), this becomes more difficult.

The general game mechanics involve striking and grappling with foes to inflict damage upon different body parts. As successful strikes and grapples are performed, players fill a finishing move gauge which can be expended to activate special moves. Attacks can also be countered with the correct timing, resulting in humiliation for the opposing character. When humiliation builds up to a certain level, wrestlers become vulnerable to special "H-Moves", which have a high probability of inflicting a knockout. Other special moves activated via the filled gauges include "Killer Moves" and "Lethal Moves", which differ for each wrestler.

Features

Rumble Roses XX supports online Xbox Live gameplay for up to four players, playing as a team or against each other. The online content also allows the player to upload or download images from the game's photo shoot mode.

A wide array of character customization options are available from within the Career Mode. These include various unlockable costumes and swimsuits, as well as adjustable sliders which can be used to increase or decrease body and muscle attributes.

Trivia and notes

Because the name Rumble Rose is already trademarked in South Korea, Konami is planning to release the game there under the name Rock n' Roses XX.
